WOMENPEDIA
The Womenpedia/Women's Work project brings a female perspective to the cultural atmosphere of the region. It is primarily dedicated to women, artists, creators, cultural activists and movers of cultural and social life in Budweis and South Bohemia, and we would like to gradually expand it to a broader national and international environment.
Two program lines the project currently develops:
Womenpedia
The research part of Womenpedia, which seeks to map the missing part of the region's history, conditions and contexts of women's artistic and creative work. It traces the lives and stories of women since the late 19th century, and asks questions: how did these women shape the region, why did they leave and how did they come back?
The project seeks to fill in the missing segment of history and map the less known stories of women in the region; it will focus on cultural activists, visual artists and performers and bring their stories to the public; the project aims to help women and girls identify with their region; it has both professional and public significance.
Women's Work
The historical part is complemented by the contemporary Women's Work line, which focuses on the current position of women in the region with the aim of connecting women, supporting them in their activities, broadening their horizons, offering space for sharing experiences and providing women with self-care opportunities.
Women's Work aims to be an open platform for sharing personal experiences based on empathy and support. We therefore want to run a series of meetings, lectures and workshops to create an open platform for critically minded women who can support and enrich each other. At the same time, it provides a place for discussion, further learning, inspiration and care.
Women's Work – topics/hashtags:
The project aims to create a professional public platform – a network based on sharing, support and empathy. It focuses on mentoring and a program for the public in the areas of work, culture, care and inspiration. It will feature interviews, lectures and workshops with inspiring women and related organizations. The topics that the project wants to address are defined by these words:
#Strength
Mentally and physically arming ourselves against the pitfalls of today's often disrespectful environment. Learning to defend our boundaries and listen to our needs. We perceive strength as a way of supporting our self-confidence and negotiating our boundaries and needs in a respectful manner, as well as a way of seeking compromise.
#Voice
Learning to listen to the stories of others. We strive to present the voices of people whose life stories and actions are thought-provoking and inspiring. At the same time, we wish to give a voice to stories that are now half-forgotten or lost.
#Soul
In a noisy world overloaded with information, we seek a pause that helps us slow down, breathe and return to ourselves. For us, the soul is a place that needs to be regularly and carefully nurtured.
#Body
Return to ourselves and our physicality.
To care for the body as a physical and mental whole. To honor our body in its strength and resilience and to accept it in its fragility and imperfection.
#Time
To learn to use our time meaningfully and wisely. We strive to find techniques and strategies to strengthen our abilities in both our work and personal lives. Train our attention and concentration and develop our existing skills.
#Care
Care is a core value for us and we enter every program with it. It is a working approach and philosophy on which we would like to build our entire community. It is a path to ourselves and our surroundings. A promise of a more resilient and respectful society.
