(PERMA)CULTURAL FORUM 2026

📅 February 5–6, 2026
📍 Kino Kotva

How does culture shape a city, and how can the title of European Capital of Culture inspire an entire country?
The (PERMA)CULTURAL FORUM 2026 offers two days full of inspiration, international perspectives, and practical workshops.

This year’s edition, held under the motto “Bloom,” opens three main themes – from creating major cultural events to engaging the public and building a city’s identity.
The event is intended for cultural professionals as well as anyone who wants a behind-the-scenes look at the preparations for České Budějovice 2028 – European Capital of Culture.

On the first day, we will present inspiring talks from both local and international speakers; the second day will be dedicated to workshops.

Through the language of Permaculture, the year 2026 carries the theme “Bloom”, and preparations for the biggest cultural event in the history of České Budějovice are well underway.

  • What has already been achieved, and what will the title year 2028 look like?
  • Is the ECoC title meant only for a closed circle of insiders?
  • And how can culture shape a city’s brand?

International experts and local actors will share answers to these questions and explain how culture — and specifically the ECoC title — contributes to the development of the entire Czech cultural sector and what it means for České Budějovice.

The forum offers three thematic blocks presenting three strong topics through which participants will learn how to get involved in ECoC and how this project is shaping Czech culture:

  • How to create major cultural events that transform a city
  • ECoC for everyone: Big themes in small formats
  • Visibility and identity: How ECoC can shape a city’s brand

Each block will open with four presentations, followed by a joint discussion.

The event is open not only to the professional cultural community but also to anyone who wants to learn more about the philosophy of the České Budějovice 2028 project, the concept of permaculture, and the behind-the-scenes preparations for the European Capital of Culture.

Conference registration is free of charge.
