28 HOUSES

28 Houses brings together cultural organizations from the South Bohemian Region that have their own space open to the public and actively contribute to the development of cultural life in their area. The members of the platform share the values of care, connection and creation, and together strive for an open, inclusive and sustainable cultural environment in the region. The organizations meet regularly twice a year, exchange experiences and participate in selected projects of the Budweis 2028 – for example, in the areas of creative learning, community art or support for cultural capacities.

The 28 Houses platform is a key part of Budweis 2028 because it connects cultural organizations of various types across the South Bohemian Region and one garden into a shared platform. Its goal is to extend the impact of Budweis 2028 from the city to the entire region and to involve the regional cultural scene in the European cultural space.

The participating organizations will develop through active involvement in joint projects, targeted training and regular meetings. In addition to practical cooperation, they will have the opportunity to enhance their capacities in areas such as strategic management, audience research, accessibility, participation, digitization and international cooperation. This development will contribute to strengthening the quality of the cultural sector and creating a long-term strategy for its sustainable growth throughout the South Bohemian Region.
28 Houses thus connects the city and the region, supports international exchange and helps to systematically develop the cultural sector with an impact far beyond 2028.

What should the outputs of this project be for 2028?

In 2028, the "houses" will form the backbone of the regional Budweis 2028 program – they will host cultural and educational activities, public meetings and also serve as information centers that will communicate the program and values of the project to visitors and locals.

The platform is also a preparation for the period after 2028 – the goal is to maintain cooperation between cultural players in the region, develop network infrastructure and continue to connect local culture with the European context.

Connections with other institutions

The 28 Houses project is designed as a network that naturally connects cultural organizations in the region and beyond. The logic of this project is precisely this interconnection – some organizations already cooperate with their local partners, while others have established international partnerships. The aim of the project is to further intensify these connections, especially between the members of the platform themselves, and at the same time to help them find new partners at the regional, national and international levels, taking into account their originality and specificity.

The key coordinator of these partnerships is the Budweis 2028 team, which not only connects the members of the platform with each other, but also with other projects and actors within the Budweis 2028 – for example, Art Farm, Creative Learning and Circular House. Budweis 2028 also provides methodological and communication support, helping organizations in their further development.

The platform also cooperates with local authorities and the Department of Culture and Tourism of the South Bohemian Region, which supports the development of the region's cultural policy. This creates an interconnected and sustainable network that strengthens not only the cultural infrastructure of the region, but also its international image and attractiveness.
