CROSSING BORDERS IN MUSIC
The Crossing Borders in Music project supports the independent music scene in South Bohemia. It creates conditions for greater professionalisation of musicians and promoters, supports the development of infrastructure and stable facilities for rehearsals, recording and concert organization, and contributes significantly to international cooperation in the music sector. In cooperation with partners from Upper and Lower Austria and Bavaria, a guide for musicians and music professionals in these regions will be created, including a database of clubs and a multilingual newsletter.
The project also takes advantage of collaboration not only with cities that host major music festivals, but also with European Capitals of Culture such as Bourges 2028 (FR), Skopje 2028 (NMK) and Trenčín 2026 (SK). In cooperation with them, a series of concerts and festivals will take place during the title year, presenting the best of Czech and European music in many genres and formats.
For 2026, the Crossing Borders in Music project has received a grant from the Interreg Bavaria–Czechia program. Thanks to this, the project can help stimulate the development of a support infrastructure for concerts and tours, thus providing support to artists and organizers in the South Bohemian Region and Bavaria.
In 2026, there will be open calls for musicians, networking meetings for music professionals and events for the general public. The planned activities will allow for the development of local bands' capacities, support environmentally sustainable touring (green touring) and promote bands abroad. The project will focus primarily on connecting musicians from the Czech Republic, Austria and Germany, with plans to expand to other countries as part of cultural exchanges with other European Capitals of Culture (ECoC). By 2028, partnerships will be established with Austrian and Bavarian export offices that will provide regular support for the exchange of musicians through the reciprocal organization of concerts, media support, recording and the release of music by international record companies.
