BIBLIOCITY

Books in Motion opens the way to high-quality children's picture books from small publishers and helps them get to where they can have the greatest impact—to children, educators, libraries, and communities. The project supports creations that deviate from the mainstream: artistically expressive, experimental, and conceptually daring books that develop visual literacy, imagination, and a sense of art. At the same time, it draws attention to the role of small publishers, whose work is essential to the diversity of book culture but often remains outside the attention of the wider public and institutions that work with children.

The project is based on three pillars that help bring books to people: mini-festivals in libraries throughout South Bohemia, where children and adults encounter authors' work; thematic libraries in unexpected places, which bring books into everyday situations; and educational seminars for teachers, librarians, and lecturers, which show how to use picture books as a tool for dialogue and development. The project is implemented by the Baobab publishing house and the TABOOK festival.
