Confusion in the maze of online space. How can we help each other defend against the constant flow of misinformation?

The second Youth Dialogue Forum discussion is starting! Join the discussion and help find everyday strategies that will help us all better combat disinformation.
Under the banner of the European Capital of Culture 2028, the Young Creators project has been launched with the aim of supporting young people's involvement in culture and social events. Young Creators are partners of the Youth Dialogue Forum 2025, a project that connects young people from Czechia, Slovakia, Poland, and Hungary. It gives them space to discuss topics that interest them and to propose their own changes.
We are currently in the second phase of the digital discussion!

Confusion in the maze of online space. How can we help each other defend against the constant flow of misinformation?
The first digital discussion, which involved more than 1,000 people across the V4 countries, revealed a consensus that disinformation affects relationships, communities, and everyday life. It makes people feel confused and frustrated, especially when they have to explain things to others that seem obvious at first glance. At the same time, it is clear that young people are unwilling to accept this problem and want to actively participate in solving it.
After the first discussion, in which we mapped the impact of disinformation on everyday life, we are moving on to the next phase. We will not talk about what large institutions or corporations should do. Instead, we will focus on what we as individuals can do for ourselves and for others.
If we want a better place, we have to actively create it. How can we help each other online and offline, in the classroom and in group chats? How can we support our family and friends? Join the second international discussion and let's find out together what works, what doesn't, and what we can do together.
Are you interested in participating in a live international discussion in English? Express your preferences, rate 35 opinions, try your luck, and enter the draw to participate in a live forum in Krakow (January 23–25, 2026). All travel expenses will be covered! The discussion is anonymous and open until December 14, 2025.
Why are we asking? The results of the first discussion clearly show us three things: 1. People agree on the seriousness of the problem and that disinformation significantly affects their lives; young people in particular consider this problem a real threat. 2. Everyone feels the impact of disinformation on their daily lives in some way. It affects our relationships, causes arguments within families, and undermines trust and community cohesion.
We would like to create a practical guide on how to deal with this problem. Many participants said they feel helpless or uncertain about what can really work. This follow-up discussion will therefore focus on everyday actions. On what we should and should not do. We may not be able to influence government policy, but we can help each other and work together to find solutions. We can look for ways to act, such as being better informed, communicating calmly, and avoiding unnecessary conflicts. Your ideas will help us create a catalog of strategies, from young people for young people, that will be realistic, understandable, and applicable across the V4 countries.
What does the term misinformation mean?
Misinformation is false or misleading information that people often share without realizing it is not true. Unlike disinformation, which is spread with the intent to manipulate or deceive, misinformation is often spread because people trust the source or want to be helpful.
What use will the results of the discussion be to us?
The results of this digital discussion will help us find practical solutions that young people consider useful. The outputs will influence: - the format of the live forum to be held in Krakow (which you can be a part of after voting for 35 opinions) - the framework of the discussion and what 30 young people from 4 different countries will talk about - the recommendations we will develop with young people at the live forum - the material we will share with ambassadors and communities.
Each ambassador will receive a personalized summary containing the outcomes of the discussions in which their community participated, including the strategies they proposed and ways to deal with disinformation. Change comes when we are able to clearly identify problems, understand how they manifest themselves in practice, and then come up with concrete solutions that people really need.
