VODŇANY MUNICIPAL CULTURE CENTRE

Vodňany Municipal Culture Centre is and aspires to remain a living part of and driving force behind local cultural life.

It organises film, theatre, music, and social programmes, and collaborates with local associations, organisations, institutions, and action groups. Among the events we organise are the Town Ball, Vodňany Carnival, Easter Market, Vodňany Fishing Days, and the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. We also ensure the publication of the monthly municipal newsletter. We are introducing development projects such as Vodňany Living Room, the Three Kings Charity Event, WARM UP (a project for the street art community), the regional sculpture festival Art in the City, and we present the One World International Human Rights Film Festival. We consider our connection with schools and educational programmes to be of great importance. Operating under the auspices of the Municipal Cultural Centre are NeDiUs — the least experienced theatre ensemble for children aged 12 and over — the Pimprlata puppet theatre, the amateur company Theatre Under the Sail, and the Šumava II Military Models Club. The Regina Women's Choir and the Vodňany Wind Band rehearse in the cultural centre building. We also collaborate with the Roman Catholic Parish and the Junák – Czech Scout centre.
