We warmly invite you to the first edition of the Community (Un)Conference.

We would like to celebrate your successes, discuss your setbacks, and share inspiration.


The Community (Un)Conference is a space for meetings, mutual sharing, motivation, and inspiration. It is a place of understanding. A place of support.

We want to express our admiration and gratitude for everything you do for your neighbors in neighborhoods, villages, and cities.

Who is it for:

The Community (Un)Conference is intended for all individuals, groups, or organizations that are actively engaged in the places where they work or live, care for them, look after their inhabitants, and are concerned with their needs.

16:30 - 17:30 | BLOCK I. COMMUNITIES TO COMMUNITIES: Stories of some of the communities directly on stage

  • What are your personal stories? What does your activity bring to you, your neighbors, and your neighborhood or city?

17:40 - 18:30 | BLOCK II. INSPIRATION: What are the possibilities for cooperation and what more can we do?

  • Michaela Valášková from the creative network, an Ústí native who actively participates in transforming public spaces and life within them. Among many other things, she is one of the initiators of the Neighborhood Guide to Prague 7 project.
  • Ondřej Horák from the Creative Prague organization. Curator of the Kul.turista project, lecturer, author of community, exhibition, educational, and socially engaged projects. He is an active promoter of contemporary visual art and the founder of the international educational platform Do you have an artistic gut?

18:30 | Screening of the short film ODE TO MY CITY

  • At the end of June, Óda na naše město resounded at Palackého Square. Over 170 musicians joined forces, and we were part of the largest concert in the history of České Budějovice.
  • We still can’t stop being moved! Let’s relive it together by watching the film that tells the story of Óda. Let’s get emotional together!

20:00 | Exhibition of Photographs of České Budějovice Communities by Roman France

  • When you meet someone for the first time, there's a risk it may not work out. Not everything will fall into place, and you might not get past the initial obstacles. That’s just how it goes. The feeling is even more intense when from the very first moment, you know that the people you're speaking to are in tune with you, share similar values, and have the same ideas. This is exactly what happened not only throughout this year but also during the third season of the Kul.turista project.
  • We wanted to remember you and capture the collaboration between us. That’s why we asked Roman France to take photos, which tell the story of who you are right now.
  • Bring your neighbors, colleagues, co-conspirators, and long-time locals from your neighborhood, village, or city, and come to see how your photo turned out.
  • A unique collection has been created, and we would love to give you your piece as a gift at the exhibition.

20:30 | Concert: HELLO INCOGNITO

  • You can talk, share your experiences, or live one – the present one – together. To end the evening, enjoy the music of the lo-fi singer-songwriter from Uherské Hradiště.

LOCATION

The Community (Un)Conference will take place at Žižkárna (Žižkova třída 28, Č. Budějovice), MAP

Žižkárna is located in the former barracks area next to OC Mercury. The entrance is from Žižkova třída.

How to get there?


🚌 By public transport:

  • If you use the bus, take the stop U koníčka (Lines No. 5, 6, 9, 10, 13, 16, 19, and 59) or Nádraží. From both stops, you can reach Žižkárna within 5 minutes (approx. 300m).
  • For route planning, you can use IDOS.cz.
  • The Žižkárna area is located close to both the bus station (300m) and the train station (450m).

🚗 By car:

  • Parking is available directly in the Žižkárna complex, or you can use the paid parking lot at OC Mercury.

🚲 By bike:

  • You’ll find 3 bike racks right behind the main entrance to the area. Please bring your own bike lock.
  • There is also a station for Rekola bikes.

🚖 By taxi:

  • Use the address Žižkova třída 28 or Žižkárna. Taxis stop on the street in front of the main entrance.

EVENT SPACES

After passing through the main gate, cross the spacious courtyard, passing the sandbox, and head towards the former garages and main buildings where all parts of the event will take place.

1. (Un)Conference

The main entrance to the building is approximately 100m from the gate. Turn right at the outdoor stage, and the entrance is located in the left building. There is one step at the entrance, but a ramp is available for accessibility. All spaces used during the (un)conference are on the ground floor, separated by standard or double doors.

2. Exhibition Opening of Photographs of Český Budějovice Communities by Roman France

The exhibition will take place in the second building, within the garage spaces – continue straight past the outdoor stage. The garage area is step-free, but the surface is uneven.

Restrooms

The building has separate men's and women's restrooms. In the women's restroom, there is a step separating the stalls from the entrance area.

Refreshments

There will be refreshments (food and non-alcoholic drinks) available on-site. Alcoholic and other beverages can be purchased at the adjacent café/bar.

Additional information

Please do not bring pets or animals that could cause discomfort.
We will be partially outdoors, so please consider the weather conditions and dress appropriately, especially for the evening or in case of adverse weather.
