Troublemakers with Bibiana Beňová

Date: March 12, 2026 | 7:00 p.m.
Location: Kotva Cinema

The screening of three episodes of the documentary series Potížistky (Troublemakers), produced by Czech Television, will be followed by a discussion with director Bibiana Beňová.

The series presents portraits of women and men who are not afraid to challenge stereotypes and "cause trouble." With exaggeration and critical distance, it addresses the issue of gender inequality in Czech society over the past 150 years and, through personal stories, asks how we are doing in terms of gender equality today.

The program includes episodes devoted to the relationship between career and motherhood, the position of women in art, and the role of men in the debate on feminism, also recalling the legacy of Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk.

The Womenpedia project has long brought a female perspective to the cultural space of the region, mapping less visible chapters of history and creating a platform for sharing experiences, support, and networking among women in culture. The screening thus thematically follows on from its research and current line.

The series is directed by Bibiana Beňová, a graduate of journalism and cultural anthropology at Charles University, who focuses on social issues in her documentary work and connects personal stories with a broader context. The screening will be followed by a discussion with the director.
