Workshop Tell a Story: Film Education in Practice

How can film education be brought into schools in a way that focuses not only on technique, but above all on real storytelling? The three-day workshop Tell a Story offers teachers and lecturers a unique opportunity to experience the filmmaking process firsthand—from the initial idea to the finished audiovisual story.

Workshop program
Friday, March 20 | 4:30–6:30 p.m.
Introduction to the topic, overview of the workshop concept, and presentation of the program.
Saturday, March 21 | 9:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
The first intensive workshop day focused on the creative process and practical demonstrations of working with film storytelling.
Sunday, March 22 | 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
Second workshop day – developing the theme, working on your own ideas and capturing them in audiovisual form.
What is the workshop about?
Film education brings new opportunities and challenges to schools. The workshop is based on the No Cap!/Upřímně! project, which is part of the České Budějovice – European Capital of Culture 2028 program.
Participants will learn:
- How to meaningfully integrate film into teaching
- How to guide students toward authentic storytelling
- How to work with a topic in a way that is personal and sincere
- How to achieve the desired result—a real story told through images and sound

Lecturers
MgA. Markéta Vondrášková
Lektorka filmové a audiovizuální výchovy na FAMU, kreativní ředitelka projektu Pražský filmový kufr a terapeutka. Ve své práci propojuje film, vzdělávání a osobní rozvoj.
BcA. Kristina Elšíková
Film screenwriter, director, and dramaturge. She has long been involved in film education for children and teenagers and curatorial activities in the field of audiovisual production.
Who is the workshop intended for?
The workshop is primarily intended for:
- educators and instructors working with teenagers
- teachers who want to start teaching film studies
- anyone looking for creative tools for working with young people
Openness to dialogue and a desire to actively create are expected.
Practical information
- Bring: notebook, pencils, phone with voice recorder and camera (or your own camera)
- Maximum capacity: 10 participants (emphasis on individual approach)
- Participation is free (subsidized by EHMK ČB 2028)
- Refreshments provided on site
