BRIDGES Festival
Organizer: BudeCirkus

We invite you to the BRIDGES Festival – a showcase of new circus that will bring the Park at Malý jez and the surrounding public space in České Budějovice to life. Come and experience a unique atmosphere where generations and the local community connect with the European scene. Unforgettable experiences await you – often with the opportunity to get actively involved. The central symbol of the festival is funambulism, or tightrope walking – not only as an acrobatic discipline, but also as a metaphor for finding balance in life and society.
When: June 17–20
Where: Park at Malý jez, České Budějovice
For this year, a lot of workshops for different age categories are prepared, where you can try, search for, and maybe even find this very balance. Kristýna Tvrdíková will show you tightrope walking in a slightly different presentation.
Every year brings exceptional performances by Czech and foreign companies, workshops for children and adults, and space for meeting and international cooperation. Come and see acrobats, dancers, and actors from the cradle of new circus, France, who will show their show Entre nous… on Wednesday 17.6., a performance on three six-meter poles. Le Grand Théâtre Mécanique is also coming from France, a small big top full of miniature spectators that you can observe in their micro-world. Company Debil Emmental will make you laugh during their street acrobatic show about the everydayness of life and will also get you moving during a dance/movement workshop where you can pause and connect with yourself and your body.
Teens stage and showcases of young circus hopes from Bohemia and Germany will get the Park at Malý jez playing on Friday, but across generations we will also get to the Senior stage and actors of the third age, Swiss mime Stefan Bütschi will present Nositelé s.r.o. and in the pre-program you can go to the Budějcká senior theater group with the performance Stand up.
Not only performances and workshops, but also well-being by the water and being together. You will be able to make your own juggling balls or maybe print something from the BudeCirkus graphics onto your T-shirt.
The BRIDGES Festival grows together with its audience – from a program for teenagers through families to seniors, from site-specific projects to the European forum of circus pedagogy.
Don't wait and register for one of the workshops. (Some workshops do not require registration; check the link after clicking on a specific workshop.)
