End of the first year of the (Perma)culture open call

On November 19, 2025, the first of three permaculture open calls announced by Budweis 2028 was closed with the aim of expanding the program offer of the European Capital of Culture in 2028 with new projects and plans in České Budějovice and, by extension, in South Bohemia.
On Wednesday, November 12, an evaluation committee composed of the following members met:
Commission – independent section (4 votes):
- expert on grant calls (committee chair) – Helena Masníková
- representative of the ECoC 2028 artistic council – Tomáš Ondřej Pilař
- representative of the ECoC 2028 panel of guarantors – Michal Pařízek
- representative of the ECoC 2015 organizer – Adéla Klimková
Commission – dependent part (3 votes):
- representative of the city's cultural commission – Radim Beránek
- representative of the regional cultural commission – Eva Dresslerová
- representative of the organizer – Anna Hořejší
and selected 11 successful applications out of a total of 29 received.
Negotiations will now be held with successful applicants on signing a Memorandum of Cooperation until 2028 and concluding a Project Preparation Agreement for next year, which will secure financial support. All new projects will then be presented to the public.
The organizer will distribute approximately CZK 50 million in three open calls in 2025, 2026, and 2027.
It is wonderful, but also challenging, that in the first year, the organizer received so many applications that the total amount of funding requested was around CZK 56 million, exceeding the maximum amount for three years.
