Open call for artists: Hotel Fatigue

Site-specific project by Divadlo Continuo

The Continuo Theater is looking for artists who want to be part of the international site-specific project Hotel Fatigue. It will run from June 26 to August 16, 2026, and will culminate in a series of performances at the abandoned Blanice hotel complex in Týn nad Vltavou.

The project is part of the České Budějovice – European Capital of Culture 2028 program.

What is Hotel Fatigue?

Hotel Fatigue is a full-length immersive theater production created specifically for a particular location—the former Blanice hotel complex. The performance will take place in its rooms, corridors, and other nooks and crannies, and the audience will become part of the action.

The project is based on a meeting of artists of various professions and nationalities who are working together to create a new work under the leadership of the Continuo Theater team and artistic director Pavel Štourač.

Project theme

The production will be based on real stories connected with the project location—the former Blanice hotel complex, its past and present, including testimonies that we might call “stories from the margins.” It is based on real stories connected with the place and with people whose voices often remain unheard – seniors, migrants, homeless people, socially or health-disadvantaged people, and members of minorities.

In addition to professional participants, members of local communities, often without previous theater experience, will also be involved in the creation.

Who is this call for applications intended for?

For:

  • students of art,

  • budding artists,

  • young professionals,

  • especially actors, performers, and dancers who already have previous experience in creative work (studies, work in a troupe, own projects) and are highly motivated to get involved.

What kind of collaborators are we looking for?

Artists who:

  • are interested in the theme of the project,

  • have energy, perseverance, and a desire to work intensively,

  • enjoy collective creation and exploring new paths,

  • are prepared to experiment, discover, and take risks.

Due to the demanding nature of the project, good physical and mental health, participation throughout the entire duration of the residency, and a good knowledge of English, which will be the working language, are required.

Financial conditions

Continuo Theater will cover the costs of transportation to Malovice and back (up to a maximum of €200), meals (three meals a day), accommodation, and local transportation for the duration of the project for participants selected through an open call.

Application

Project participants will be selected based on their application, CV, cover letter, a short video in which the participant briefly introduces themselves (all of the above materials must be submitted in English), and video documentation of their artistic work to date. More information can be found in the application form. After preliminary selection, applicants may be asked to provide additional materials and/or participate in an online meeting.

APPLICATION DEADLINE: February 28, 2026 (midnight)
Evaluation of applications and selection of participants: by March 10, 2026
