Slow Circuits: The Garden as a Web of Relations

The garden takes shape through the interplay of living and non-living, human and more-than-human actors, as well as through interventions in its environment. It is both a process and a web of relations that constantly reconfigure in time, a liminal space where one learns to perceive processes that exceed them while also being part of them.

Building on last year's summer school in the allotment garden colony, the research group returns to the same garden in order to engage more deeply with its actuality. It treats the garden as a model site where the intricate relations between plants, soil, water, animals, and humans become especially visible.

In collaboration with people who maintain a close relationship to the site, alongside experts and scientists, we will document the dynamics of this shared space, its infrastructure, and its links to the broader environment through observation, listening, and dialogue. The collected material, conversation records, and research findings in the form of photographs, drawings, and audio or video recordings will become the basis for composing an image of the garden that can be read beyond the site itself.
