The Nová Residence has opened its doors to artists and the local scene!

The Nová Residence has officially opened in České Budějovice, becoming the city’s first residential space with studios dedicated to literary and visual arts, focusing on artistic creation and cultural production across various disciplines.

The house is being developed as part of the ART FARM program, which expands the network of artistic residencies in the South Bohemian Region.

Nová offers two residential apartments along with facilities for creation, networking, and collaboration with the local cultural scene and communities.

The opening took place in a warm, friendly atmosphere, attended by artists, representatives of residency programs, cultural organizations, the Budějovice 2028 team, and the general public. The program was complemented by a jazz band and casual networking in the newly opened spaces.

Markéta Hrdlička Málková, curator of the residency program, and Anna Davis, the project manager, expressed their gratitude to partners and collaborators. They introduced Nová as an open space for creation, dialogue, and building connections within the region.

During the gathering, the cultural history of the house was also highlighted—a heritage that its new purpose naturally builds upon. The opening was also attended by the building’s owner, whose generosity made it possible to give the house a new role in the city's cultural life.

As a result, Nová is meant to be more than just a base for artists; it aims to be a space open to local organizations, neighbors, and communities. It is precisely this connection between the residency and its surroundings that can bring new perspectives to local themes and enrich cultural life in both the city and the region.
