PÍSEK MUNICIPAL CULTURAL CENTRE
Písek Municipal Cultural Centre is one of the most prominent cultural institutions in the South Bohemian region. It has long connected professional art, community activities, and high-quality leisure programmes, creating a vibrant cultural home for bothHotovo residents and visitors. Thanks to the breadth of its offer and high level of expertise, it ranks among the key cultural players in the entire region.
The Municipal Cultural Centre comprises several independent yet interconnected facilities:
- the Cultural House, Fráňa Šrámek Theatre, Portyč Cinema, Open-Air Cinema, Portyč Gallery, Trojice Concert Hall, Senior Plus, and Divadelka.
Each has its own specific focus, yet together they form a unique platform that offers nearly 3,000 events of all genres each year — from film, concerts, and theatre to education, festivals, and community projects.
Among the flagship events is the town celebration Dotkni se Písku (Touch Písek), which over the course of several days welcomes thousands of visitors and showcases both local and national cultural scenes. The International Courses of Professor Otakar Ševčík for young violinists enjoy exceptional renown throughout the country, regularly bringing leading educators and young classical music talents to Písek.
Among the most attended programmes is also Advent v Písku (Advent in Písek), a comprehensive town project combining cultural, craft, and family activities into a unique pre-Christmas atmosphere. The Jazz in Písek festival likewise holds a strong tradition, connecting modern and traditional jazz and cultivating the musical scene of the entire region over the long term.
