MONTH OF CREATIVITY
FAMILY SATURDAY
Come join us for shared experiences and moments of childhood joy!
Exposure to art at an early age isn’t just about fun; it’s a way to nurture children’s imagination and perceptiveness.
In an environment tailored to the needs of the youngest children, they make their first contact with art through play with shapes, sounds, movement, and other elements, bringing new stimuli into their world. It is through these stimuli that they develop their curiosity and the courage to discover new possibilities—small discoveries thus bring great experiences and insights.

FAMILY SATURDAY PROGRAM
Toddler Performance: "Song of the Primordial Land" for children ages 0–3, Mikro-teatro
📅 May 23, 2026 | 10:00–10:30
📍South Bohemian Research Library (Children’s Department), Na Sadech 27
At the beginning of everything lies a piece of land, seemingly silent, yet already pulsing with life. The Pangé volcano. A mother who gives birth to the elements of nature and introduces us to its laws. From Pangé rise volcanic mountains and minerals. These become overgrown with ferns and lichens, in which insects, tiny annelids, and snails come to life, until eventually the whole land pulses with the life of the jungle and the Song of the Primordial Earth resounds. Do you know its rhythm?
The performance is based on the repertoire of the Mikro-teatro theater.
- Director: Tereza Karpianus
- Set Design: Karolína Jansová
- Cast: Andrea Steinbauer
Mikro-teatro has been active in Brno since 2019 with the aim of creating unique performances in the intimate setting of homes and apartments for a small audience. Its specialty lies in projects that foster a close relationship among all those present, creating a safe space for sharing and expressing emotions. This format, entirely unique in the Czech Republic, draws on the tradition of apartment theaters common in Spanish-speaking countries. Mikro-teatro’s repertoire currently consists of 12 productions—eight for children ranging from toddlers to school-age kids and four for adult audiences.

Play and Creative Adventures at Wortner House
📅 May 23, 2026 | 10:30 AM–5:00 PM
📍Alšova South Bohemian Gallery – Wortner House, U Černé věže 343
KUKoutek
Playroom for children aged 10 months to 3 years and their caregivers
Here, our youngest visitors can safely explore—at their own pace—a Native American village, a tactile carpet, interactive boards, giant flowers, and simple building blocks.
KUKoutek is an original playroom and a preview from the KUK Festival, which focuses on creativity and art for the youngest children.
The KUK Festival was created by the Damúza studio with the aim of developing the global trend of theater for the youngest audiences—ages 10 months to 3 years—in the Czech Republic. KUK’s goal is to offer a meaningful program of high artistic quality that serves as a non-commercial alternative to traditional children’s entertainment. The series of events, taking place throughout the year in Prague and across the regions, includes formats tailored to the needs of toddlers—from interactive playrooms and theater performances to movement workshops. The program thus creates an inspiring space for first artistic experiences and the shared discovery of the world.

Art Workshop
Toddler Art
Alongside KUKoutek for the youngest children, an art workshop for toddlers up to 3 years old will be held all day in the courtyard of Wortner House. Here, children can freely explore tracks and prints, experiment with colors, and discover the world through artistic play.
The studio program was prepared and will be led by instructor Kristýna Padrtová.
Kristýna Padrtová studied art history at the Faculty of Arts of the University of South Bohemia and subsequently pursued a degree in Photography and Media at VOŠG Hellichova in Prague. She supplemented her teaching education by studying aesthetic education at Masaryk University in Brno. She gained her professional experience as an educational guide at the ScioSchool in České Budějovice. She currently works as an educator at the Municipal Gallery in Týn nad Vltavou and leads the art course “Mini School of Art History for Toddlers” at the Alšovka studio (affiliated with the Alš South Bohemian Gallery). In addition to her teaching activities, she also pursues her own photography.
The program at Wortner House runs all day and is open to the public without prior registration.
You are welcome to drop by at any time.
Admission to all activities throughout the day is free.
