“Magic Carpets” is a “Creative Europe” platform uniting 17 European cultural organisations that create opportunities for emerging artists to embark on journeys to unknown lands and to create, together with local artists and local communities, new works that highlight local specificities and compensate for the shortage of story-telling existing in modern society by enhancing cultural accessibility, cultural activism and participation.

The main objectives of the “Magic Carpets” Platform are:

• to create an international network of cultural organisations and emerging European talents (artists and curators) and to encourage wider circulation and presentation of artists and artworks;
• to promote emerging European talents (artists and curators) using the visibility of the platform and participating cultural organisations’ events and festivals as springboards;
• to develop the knowledge and skills of emerging European talents (artists and curators) to work in a socially engaged and responsible way as well as ‘outside the institution’/in public space;
• to develop collaborative, inclusive and co-creative contemporary art practices through active engagement of citizens in the platform’s activities;
• to encourage cross-sectoral collaborations between cultural, social and educational institutions in order to identify social structures to use culture as a catalyst for change;
• to contribute towards exchange of knowledge through the means of face-to-face communication and storytelling activities resulting in intercultural, interfaith, intergenerational dialogue and mutual understanding;
• to develop an effective audience engagement programme in relation to cultural activities and innovative approaches in platform’s communication;
• to ensure the visibility of European values and different cultures;
• to guarantee the European quality of the project and the legacy of the partnership beyond the project period.

 The main aim of the “Magic Carpets” Platform is to support at least 50 (fifty) emerging artists per year.
