PLUM YARD

Arts and Education Centre

Plum Yard has been active since 2015 in the grounds of a former rural homestead, which was transformed through a project by Divadlo Continuo into a multifunctional cultural space centred around a theatre hall. Not only through its technical facilities but also through the atmosphere of its exterior, Plum Yard is an ideal setting for both individual and group creative work, as well as a visually appealing environment for the broadest cultural public.

Plum Yard is an open cultural space, flexible for various formats of activity in the fields of culture and education, and its year-round programme encompasses a rich variety of events. As a residency house, Plum Yard is open to artists of all disciplines seeking a place for focused creative work. Within its Creative Learning programme it organises workshops for schools (nursery, primary, and secondary) as well as for teachers and educators. A stable pillar of the public programme is performances for families — Švestkohraní, culminating each year in the Family Festival — alongside composed projects for adults. An integral part of its activities is a focus on working with senior citizens (the Sen-i-um project and the newly launched Old Fashioned festival).

The long-term goal of Plum Yard is to contribute to the development of sociocultural diversity in both art and life — in collaboration with professional artists and cultural and educational projects, and in connection with communities, with regard to the unique potential of every individual.

Plum Yard is located in the village of Malovice, halfway between České Budějovice and Písek, and between Netolice and Vodňany.
