PORT 1560

The grounds of the former lords' brewery in Český Krumlov opened its doors in 2024 and today represents a unique fusion of history, culture, and contemporary art. PORT 1560 is not merely a heritage site, but a pulsating place of encounter, at the heart of which is the Historic Krumlov Brewery, continuing a centuries-old tradition of brewing. Visitors can look forward to a rich programme of events, four permanent exhibitions, and pleasant facilities for relaxation in the immediate vicinity of the Vltava river.

The journey of discovery begins at the modern visitor centre, from where guests set out to explore brewing tradition, the lives of townspeople, and contemporary art. The exhibitions lead visitors into the authentic historic Brewhouse and into the interactive space of the former malthouse — the Hvozd — where industrial elements meet a dreamlike atmosphere. In contrast to the technical heritage stands the playful Renaissance Palace with its exhibition on Krumlov's townspeople, while the Gallery of Contemporary Art and a graphic arts workshop with workshops offer space for inspiration and personal creative work.

PORT 1560 breathes together with the town as a living cultural space. The grounds also include a picturesque riverside promenade along the Vltava, a Brewery Restaurant, and an expansive garden which throughout the year becomes the setting for concerts, local festivals, and an open-air cinema. Thanks also to close collaboration with partners such as the South Bohemian Theatre in the Jižní svéráz project, the Festival Krumlov, and Krumlov Open Air, the grounds offer a unique opportunity to experience Český Krumlov from a different angle — as a modern place of inspiration and extraordinary experiences that honours its past.
