SLADOVNA PÍSEK
Gallery through Play for Children and Their Adults
Sladovna Písek is the largest children's gallery in the Czech Republic. Its dramaturgical concept "Gallery through Play" invites children and their adults into a world of living exhibitions, where the boundary between art and play dissolves naturally. Visitors can actively engage, create, discover, and learn through experience, play, and imagination.
Across more than 4,500 m² you will find a rich variety of permanent and temporary exhibition projects, created in collaboration with artists, educators, designers, and cultural institutions across disciplines.
The historic Sladovna building once served as a malt house — a place where grain germinated and began its journey. Today it is ideas, creativity, and children's imagination that germinate here. We believe that the experience of Sladovna inspires children and strengthens them in their personal and creative growth.
Sladovna is also the organiser of the urban festival Pískoviště, which each year brings the public spaces of Písek to life and involves local communities, families, and visitors from across the country in both its preparation and its events.
Also part of the premises is Balzám Café — a place for rest, culture, and gathering, which alongside coffee offers exhibitions and concerts.
Through its activities, Sladovna Písek reaches beyond the boundaries of the region and the Czech Republic — collaborating on projects across Europe and actively engaging in the international dialogue on the role of art and culture in the lives of children and families.
